My work investigates perception of femininity, connection with the Earth, memories, heritage, sacred feelings, spaces, and objects. Creating detailed marks serves as a way to honor the intricacies of the natural world. I am fueled by my connection to the Earth’s rhythms, allowing those patterns to take charge of the imagery in which I create. My most recent series, Ribbons of Ritual, revolves around the perception of the female body and the unseen power that lies within. The violence against women and the Earth are both forces that have been omnipresent in each piece. The body acts as a vessel that connects us to the unseen and seen forces all around us, whether they be love or hate. The unseen power within both the Earth and body, however, is the ritual of connection, and through this series, I hope to echo that force.
